Memory Bank is a journaling app created by William McKee. This Privacy Policy explains what information Memory Bank collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at bpmckee3@gmail.com.
Memory Bank stores the content you choose to create or upload, including journals, entries, moments, text fields, captions, locations, visits, photos, videos, and related metadata. This content is used to provide the journaling, timeline, map, media, and Smart Suggestions features in the app.
If you create an account or sign in, we may store account information such as your email address, user identifier, authentication provider information, and session information so you can access your account.
Memory Bank can use location in several ways:
You can control location suggestions in the app under You > Smart Suggestions. The available choices are Background, While Using, and Off. You can also change or revoke location permissions in your device settings.
Memory Bank does not sell your location data and does not use location data for advertising.
If you grant access, Memory Bank can use your photo library and camera so you can add photos or videos to moments and entries. If Photo Smart Suggestions are enabled, Memory Bank may scan your photo library while the app is open for photos or videos with location metadata and suggest moments you can log.
You can control photo suggestions in the app under You > Smart Suggestions. You can also change or revoke photo permissions in your device settings.
If you use voice capture or transcription features, Memory Bank may request microphone and speech recognition permissions. Audio may be processed by the operating system or speech recognition provider to convert your voice into text. The resulting text may be saved in your Memory Bank content if you choose to keep it.
Memory Bank uses map and place services to show maps, search for places, reverse geocode coordinates, and display place names. Depending on platform and configuration, this may involve Apple Maps, Google Maps, Radar, Geoapify, or similar place search services. Place queries and approximate coordinates may be sent to these services when needed to provide place search or place-name lookup. Memory Bank may cache provider responses to improve performance and reduce repeated provider calls.
Memory Bank uses service providers to run the app, authenticate users, store app data, store uploaded media, send email, and provide maps, place search, and speech-related functionality. These providers may process information only as needed to provide the service.
Current or expected service providers include Expo, Convex, Better Auth, Cloudflare R2 or Convex R2 storage, Apple sign-in, Google sign-in, Google Play Services, Apple Maps, Google Maps, Radar, Geoapify, and Resend.
The app and its service providers may collect technical information needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, error logs, and basic usage events. If crash or error reporting is added, related diagnostic data may be collected to identify and fix issues.
